Buildings that house northern culture face the challenge of representing the mosaic of ethnicities that inhabit our circumpolar world. Often, these solutions make strong statements - like St. Jude’s Cathedral in Iqaluit. Evoking the spirit of snow, the 'Big Igloo' and the aboriginal tradition of gathering in the round this project is anticipated for summer 2008 construction. Likewise, our study for the Inuit Cultural School in Nunavut responds to a longstanding need to develop and encourage northern customs and language. Only through oral traditions can the culture of a people pass from generation to generation.

FSC was responsible for the design of the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre, the first quality performance space north of sixty which houses plays, concerts and because it is integrated the newly renovated Sir John Franklin High School, encourages broad student participation in the dramatic arts and supporting technical roles.
